Translates data and information into intelligence that can be easily absorbed by various internal stakeholders to support enhanced decision making and create competitive advantage for Acurian’s service offerings.


Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Combines data from internal marketing and sales systems (e.g., with external data sources (e.g., pipeline databases) to generate insights and provide guidance that helps business development teams focus sales efforts.
  • Maps the clinical trial pipelines of biopharmaceutical companies to Acurian’s core services and experience to ensure marketing and business development teams have accurate projections of current and future business opportunities.
  • Builds a business case to link client needs to Acurian’s capabilities and service offerings for business development purposes, including a thorough analysis of the drug being developed, its importance to the sponsor’s business goals, competing drugs in development, and other information that may enhance Acurian’s bid-to-close ratio.
  • Assists with primary market research and competitive intelligence initiatives to assess business opportunities. Contributes to objective setting, methodology evaluation, analysis of findings and implications on Acurian’s business.
  • Monitors and analyzes market dynamics and trends in the clinical development space to determine implications for Acurian, both operationally and strategically.
  • Evaluates sources of information for relevance, dependability, accuracy and overall cost effectiveness. Identifies and evaluates new secondary data sources to contribute to departmental and company objectives, as well as novel ways of analyzing data, and drives resulting process improvement initiatives.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses as required to support projects involving marketing, strategy, and corporate development

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a role with comparable responsibilities.
  • Experience in life sciences R&D, particularly within clinical trials/clinical services, is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Very strong data analysis knowledge and capabilities required. Ability to integrate data from disparate sources, filter and clean data, analyze data using pivot tables and other tools, and ability to structure analytical outputs for easy absorption and interpretation by executive stakeholders.
  • Proven qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new concepts and obtain a deep understanding of fundamental business drivers.
  • Strong information sourcing skills required.
  • Strong writing and communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, and ability to work effectively with multiple groups/departments (sales, marketing, senior management, etc.).
